There's nothing quite like a good tamarillo, and these ones are the real deal. Bee and Graham grow them on the Firth of Thames, where the sheltered coastal warmth gives the fruit time to ripen properly and develop that deep, tangy sweetness tamarillos are famous for.
If you've never had one before, here's the trick: slice it in half and scoop the flesh straight out with a teaspoon. Some folk like a sprinkle of sugar over the top, others spoon them onto toast, stir them through porridge, or cook them down into a chutney that'll see you through winter. Tart, rich and a little bit moreish — they're one of those fruits people either grew up on or fall hard for the first time they try them.
They're good for you too. Tamarillos are loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, which makes them a lovely thing to have on hand through the cooler months.
What we love most is that these come from real growers who care about what they do. Bee and Graham put the time in, and you can taste it. When you order a batch, you're getting fruit that's been grown with genuine pride — and a little bit of love — and brought to you the same way we do everything here at The Egg Project.
Grab some while they're in season. Once they're gone, they're gone till next year.
